Masala Corn Chaat Recipe

Indian snacks like Masala Corn Chaat are quick and tasty. They are made with boiled sweet corn, butter, spices, lemon juice, and fresh herbs. Typically served hot as a street-style chaat, it is adaptable and may be either spicy or mild.

Ingredients for Masala Corn Chaat Recipe:

  • Sweet corn – 1.5 cups (boiled)

  • Butter – 1 tbsp

  • Chopped onions – 2 tbsp

  • Chopped tomatoes – 2 tbsp (optional)

  • Chopped coriander – 1 tbsp

  • Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped, optional)

  • Chaat masala – 1 tsp

  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp

  • Black salt – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)

  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp

  • Salt – as needed

Step by step process:

Step 1: Boil the corn

The kernels of fresh sweet corn should be carefully removed from the cob before being boiled for three to four minutes in lightly salted water until they are juicy and tender. Before starting the recipe, just thaw the frozen corn and boil it for about two minutes, just long enough to heat it through, then drain it thoroughly to get rid of any extra water.

Step 2: Heat with butter

Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat until fragrant and just beginning to bubble. Add the boiled corn kernels and cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through and evenly coated with butter.

Step 3: Season

Add the black salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala, and, if necessary, a pinch of ordinary salt. For a taste explosion in every bite, thoroughly stir to coat each kernel with the aromatic spice mixture.

Step 4: Add fresh ingredients

Add the chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, and fresh coriander leaves after turning off the heat. Toss gently so that the warm, spiced corn and the fresh ingredients combine.

Step 5: Add lemon juice & serve

To get the most flavour and texture out of the chaat, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over it to give it a tangy brightness. Serve the chaat warm right away.
